FROM MEN, WE LEARN: NAVIGATING THE PATHS TO MANHOOD

Are You SOME FATHER?

Are You SOME FATHER? Some Fathers talk the talk but cannot walk the walk. Some Fathers see only through eyes narrowed by their limited vision. Some Fathers hear but do not listen. Some Fathers touch but cannot display love. Some Fathers possess a tremendous ability to walk the walk, see possibilities, and listen for opportunities to help children while instilling by example what a father should be. Some fathers reach out to their and others’ children and touch them all with unconditional love and acceptance. Some fathers often turn the other cheek, remain silent to make their point, and forge ahead undeterred. Some fathers manage to bring out the best in those whose lives they touch. Some fathers are not like other fathers. They capture hearts and shape and strengthen lives. Some fathers are rare gems in an ocean of

Quercetin in Red Onions: Your Secret Weapon Against “Zombie Cells”?

Quercetin in Red Onions: Your Secret Weapon Against “Zombie Cells”? Could eating red onions ward off cancer by killing off “zombie cells?” Exciting new research has illuminated the potential of red onions, brimming with quercetin, to significantly diminish senescent cells. These cells, often called ‘zombie cells,’ no longer function optimally but persist in the body, evading the immune system’s elimination. This breakthrough instills hope in the battle against aging and age-related diseases, offering a promising future. Our immune system’s capacity to clear out senescent cells may wane as we journey through life. These cells, which have ceased to grow but continue to release inflammatory and tissue-degrading molecules, can accumulate in tissues and harm nearby cells. By understanding this process, we are empowered to take proactive measures to safeguard our health and potentially stave off age-related health issues and diseases like dementia and

Author’s Humble Beginnings: Why I Write

Author’s Humble Beginnings: Why I Write  Many of you ask, “When did you first begin writing? When did you publish your first novel? How did you know you were a writer?” Since childhood, I have known and believed that my writing is a gift. I also believe every writer knows in their heart that they connect with something greater than themselves when they spill “ink on paper” or see the words on their computer screen take many roots and weave content page after page. This is my story. Please share who, what, where, why, when, and I’ll add how you knew you were a writer. I will step out of my comfort zone and tell you in the 3rd person. Cecilia emerged from a childhood cloaked in dust and the rumble of tractors, seven siblings her constant companions. The only

The Sinister Side of Nursery Rhymes: Unmasking the Dark Past Hiding in Plain Sight

The Sinister Side of Nursery Rhymes: Unmasking the Dark Past Hiding in Plain Sight Have you ever wondered why our cherished nursery rhymes are filled with peculiar characters and unsettling events? These seemingly innocent verses harbor shocking origins deeply rooted in historical events, social commentary, and political satire.  Prepare to be intrigued as we delve into the concealed meanings behind some of your childhood favorites: Ring Around the Rosie: This cheerful rhyme about dancing and falling might actually be a chilling reference to the bubonic plague.” Posies” symbolize the herbs used to ward off the disease, and “ashes, ashes” allude to the cremation of the dead.  Baa Baa Black Sheep: This simple song about counting sheep could be a commentary on the medieval wool tax, with the “master,” “dame,” and “little boy who lives down the lane” representing different social

The Quest for Age Reversal: Promising Studies on the Horizon

The Quest for Age Reversal: Promising Studies on the Horizon The dream of turning back the clock on aging has long captivated humanity. While the fountain of youth remains elusive, recent scientific breakthroughs have brought us closer than ever to understanding and potentially manipulating the aging process. Ongoing research is paving the way for potential therapies and interventions that extend lifespan and improve health spans. Cellular Reprogramming: Turning Back the Clock at the Cellular Level One of the most promising areas of research involves cellular reprogramming. Scientists have discovered that by introducing specific genes, known as Yamanaka factors, into adult cells, they can be “reprogrammed” to become induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These iPSCs resemble embryonic stem cells and can potentially develop into any cell type in the body. While the full implications of cellular reprogramming for age reversal are

The Choctaw Code Talkers: Unsung Heroes of WWI and WWII

The Choctaw Code Talkers: Unsung Heroes of WWI and WWII  In the annals of military history, code talkers hold a special place. They used their native languages to transmit critical information, confounding the enemy’s attempts to decipher vital communications. Among the most pioneering were the Choctaw Code Talkers, deployed during the tumultuous years of World War I and World War II. Their invaluable contributions remain an essential part of American and Native American history.  A Language as a Weapon  During WWI, the U.S. Army faced a persistent problem: the Germans were adept at intercepting and decoding American communications. In an innovative move, officers in the 36th Infantry Division, which included Choctaw soldiers from Oklahoma, realized the potential of the Choctaw language – a

Escaping the Shadows: How to Thrive in the Face of Negative-Dark Energy

Escaping the Shadows How to Thrive in the Face of Negative-Dark Energy We’ve all encountered those individuals who seem perpetually stuck in a raincloud. They see only problems and complain constantly, and their pessimism can feel contagious. If you’ve ever felt your mood plummet after interacting with such a person, you know firsthand the power of negative dark energy. The effect of dark energy hit me hard. A person close to me piled it on, and I, an optimistic, white-energy personality, was overwhelmed by the dark energy coming from this person. The stress from the association threw my heart out of rhythm. It was noticeable to me, as I’d recently had a full four-hour cardio workup (because heart problems run in my family). At my consultation, I was informed, “No blockage anywhere, arteries clear, heart valves great.” So, to suddenly realize

PREPLANNING YOUR FINAL ARRANGEMENTS: A GIFT OF LOVE AND PEACE

Preplanning Your Final Arrangements A Gift of Love and Peace   Many of us try to avoid thinking about our mortality. We dream of endless days filled with laughter, love, and the simple joys of life. However, life is finite, and planning for our eventual departure is a profound act of love and consideration for those we leave behind. Refrain from Bill Shaver’s song, “I’m Going to Live Forever” “I’m gonna live forever I’m gonna cross that river I’m gonna catch tomorrow now.” A Story of Thoughtful Planning Imagine a vibrant woman in her 60s, full of life and laughter, who casually shares with her family over dinner that she’s made her final arrangements. She weaves humor into the conversation, easing the initial discomfort with her lighthearted approach.  This seemingly simple pre-planning becomes an invaluable gift to her loved ones, sparing them

My Dog Gone Luck

My Dog Gone Luck  Martini Mooney dropped dead on her damp front porch after returning home from the store where she purchased a lottery ticket and candy, the candy now half-eaten. The candy and the ticket stuck to the dog’s paw as she fell to her side.  Mrs. Mooney’s dog, Dandelion, was one warm spot in her life and the only splendor left in her tender heart. He licked the plump, pale skin of his fallen mistress for a long time but sensed her sad demise.   Dandelion moaned and groaned and continued his vigil until late afternoon. He finally accepted the sad situation and knew he must soon leave her side.   He studied the paper stuck to the candy bar and decided to eat it as he looked down on it in woe and pain. He sniffed it.  He licked
